What is EFC

Science-Based Combatives
Built for the Job You Do

EFC combines science-based fitness and principle-driven combatives to create mission-ready officers who can confidently manage use-of-force situations, apprehensions, and defensive tactics — in the real environments they face every day.

Most use-of-force programs teach techniques in isolation. EFC teaches a system — one built around how officers actually move, think, and decide under stress. The emphasis is on adaptability, situational awareness, and legal compliance, so every officer leaves prepared not just physically, but tactically and professionally.

The 5 Principles of EFC Defensive Tactics

01
Awareness
Staying alert to potential threats and your surroundings before the encounter begins. Awareness wins the fight before it starts.
02
Maintain Mobility
Keeping yourself mobile and adaptable in both standing and grounded positions. A static officer is a vulnerable officer.
03
Distance Management
Mastering the balance between engaging and disengaging with a subject. Controlling distance controls the encounter.
04
Win the Angles
Positioning yourself to control the encounter and gain a tactical advantage. Angles create leverage, safety, and control.
05
Improvise
Adapting quickly to changing circumstances during dynamic situations. No scenario unfolds the way you planned — train for that.

Training Components

What You’ll Train
Every Session

Every EFC session is built around the scenarios officers face — not theoretical technique demonstrations. The training is practical, pressure-tested, and immediately applicable.

  • Defensive tactics and combatives
  • Use-of-force considerations and decision-making
  • Single and multiple officer apprehensions
  • Weapons retention and defense
  • Handcuffing and searching techniques
  • Real-world scenario training

In Depth

A System Built for
Real-World Encounters

EFC’s principle-based approach goes beyond traditional techniques. The focus is on flexibility and real-time decision-making — so officers respond with confidence whether they’re standing, grounded, or managing a weapon.

Standing Control
Strong foundation striking, cover, and takedown defense. Clinch positions, gain control, striking from close range, duck unders, arm drags, and 2-on-1 control. Takedowns and sweeps. Front and rear headlock defense. Using surroundings, walls, and vehicles.
Ground Control
Position, pressure, locks, chokes, and striking from the ground. Fighting from guard and disadvantaged positions. Defending weapons on the ground using the R.C.A.T. principle. Cuffing from ground control positions.
Weapon Retention
Working the principles of R.C.A.T. across all angles. Defending handgun, long-gun, and edged weapons in standing, grounded, vehicle, confined space, and close-quarters environments. Retention in and out of holster.
Apprehension Tactics
Single and multiple officer scenarios. Coordination, communication, and positional control. Takedown and sweep sequences leading to control and cuffing. Managing resistant, actively combative, and weapons-involved subjects.
Use of Force
Decision-making under stress. Legal and professional considerations integrated into training — not taught as a separate classroom module. Officers learn to think and act simultaneously, not sequentially.
Scenario Training
Real-world scenario immersion. Dynamic situations that force improvisation, communication, and application of all principles under pressure. This is where the training becomes instinct.
“The training I received from East Texas Krav Maga far exceeded my expectations. Not only has my fitness level increased significantly but so has my situational awareness and confidence. The instructors are top notch and care deeply about the material being taught and the student’s grasp of the concepts.”
