Building on theFundamentals
Level 2 expands your striking arsenal, introduces bearhug and wall-choke defenses, and builds combination attacks that flow. Training twice a week, most students complete this level in six to nine months.
Take Action Now
Building on “Fight Back” from Level 1, you learn that quick, decisive action creates options. Hesitation closes them.
Be Offensive with Every Action
Shift to a proactive approach — use offense to disrupt the opponent’s rhythm and neutralize threats before they develop.
Moving on Angles
Move diagonally and in circles, not just forward and back. Throw off the attacker’s aim and open new angles for counterattack.
Effective Targeting
Stop striking randomly. Target vulnerabilities using anatomy and leverage — every strike should have a purpose.
Techniques performed correctly but without fluid combination are incomplete. Level 2 is where your strikes start to chain — and your defense becomes offense.
Combatives
- Hook Punches — Lead and rear
- Uppercuts — Lead and rear
- Side Kick
- Back Kick
- Combination Attacks — Multi-angle, varying heights
- Overlapping Strikes — One retracting as the next launches
Defenses Against Kicks
- Leg Defenses vs. Low Kicks — Shin checks, leg shields
- Hand Defenses vs. Kicks — When leg defense isn’t possible
Self-Defense Techniques
- Choke Against a Wall — Create space, counterattack off the pin
- Bearhug Defenses — Front and behind, arms free and arms pinned
- “Space and Base” Reaction — Hips back, stance low, center of gravity drops
- Headlock Defense from Behind — Refined from Level 1
Falls & Ground Fighting
- Safe Falling — Forward, backward, and side falls
- Quick Recovery — Get back to your feet fast
- Ground Defense Expansion — Defend from bottom position
- Explosive Ground Responses — Neutralize, don’t grapple
Combo Chains
Continuous combination attacks at varying heights and angles — no pausing between sequences.
Wall Defense
Partner pins you to the wall. Create space, counter, escape. Reset and go again.
Bearhug Gauntlet
Multiple partners, random bearhug variations. React, break free, counterattack, move to next.
Fall & Fight
Get taken down, fall safely, defend from the ground, get up under pressure.
After six to nine months refining Level 2 techniques, you’ll test into Level 3 — Green Belt. Level 3 introduces headbutts, advanced kicks, throws, close-quarter fighting, and the push/pull tactical concept.
